Fatty liver
(Fatty hepatosis)

In the body, the liver acts as a filter, converting food into energy and purifying the blood. Everything we consume passes through the liver.

The risk group for fatty liver disease includes:
- Overweight (body mass index above 25) Danger of abdominal obesity (when fat accumulates in the waist). Waist circumference should not exceed 88 cm!
- Increased levels of cholesterol or triglycerides in the blood.
- Diabetes mellitus type 2. Blood glucose level above 6,1 mmol / l.
- Rapid weight loss, too strict diets are also potentially dangerous.

Prophylaxis
The liver is a self-healing organ. In the early stages of the disease it is enough to eat right and change your lifestyle. In fatty liver disease, the Mediterranean diet is appropriate.
