Hydrocele in children - Testicular contraction

The increase in the amount of fluid between the visceral and parietal membranes of the tunica vaginalis around the testicle is called hydrocele. In fact, there is a very small amount of fluid, which protects the testicles from some external influences and allows them to move freely. The fluid is produced on the one hand and absorbed on the other, in which case it is in equilibrium if absorption is disturbed and hydrocele develops. It occurs in 1% of the population.

It is recommended to wait up to 2 years only in case of hydrocele, in very small sizes. Those who do not return after the age of 2 are treated with open surgery.

Hydrocele can also be detected at home. You turn on your phone’s flashlight and hold on to the swollen product on the blanket. If light passes through it, it becomes hydrocele, just like in the picture.
