Melodies created by Navoi

In Khandamir's Khulasat ul-Akhbar, Babur's Boburnoma, and Mutribi's Nushayi Zeboyi Jahongir, Alisher Navoi is said to have been a scholar of music, and to have encouraged those around him to study the science of music. However, it is not clear what kind of music Navoi composed in these works.

It is believed that some of the great poet's melodies have survived. In particular, Abdurauf Fitrat writes about the melody "Qari Navo" or "Qari Navoi" in his book "Uzbek classical music and its history": "Everywhere you look today, the tide of protectionist sentiment is flowing. As we have heard, there is an old tune called "Qari Navoi" in Fergana. Tashkent musicians call this song "Qari Navo". But the name is wrong. They have ruined the name of "Old Navoi". Among the old musicologists of Bukhara this melody is considered to be Navoi's work. "After this information, it is possible that the song" Old Navoi "was the work of Alisher Navoi.".

The song "Shoda-shoda marvarid" is very popular. This playful melody may later have been used for folk songs.
