Alisher Navoi's lyrics are the highest stage of medieval Uzbek lyrics. The great poet improved the lyrical poetry, which had been developed up to him, in terms of theme, idea, weight and artistic style, with great work and skill, to an unprecedented level.
Navoi was an excellent poet who used his pen equally skillfully in Turkish and Persian languages. However, no one has achieved perfection in Turkish poetry like Navoi.
Judging by the assessment given by Maulana Lutfi to Navoi's ghazal, which begins with the words "Orazin yapkach", the poet was 14-15 years old at that time. So, Alisher became a poet already in 1455-1456.
There are eight divans of the poet. Seven of them were written directly by Navoi himself in the style of an official divan. The first divan was compiled by the poet's contemporaries and fans, collecting his famous poems.
Alisher Navoi named his first official divan "Badoe ul-Bidaya" (The Beginning of Beauty). This devan was created after 1469, that is, after Huain Boygaro won the kingdom, by his order.
Alisher Navoi called his second official work "Navodir un-nihoya (Infinite rarities). In this divan composed between 1480-1487, the poet included all his Uzbek poems written after the creation of the first divan.
During 1492-1498, Alisher Navoi collected the poems that were included in his previous official divans and those composed later, as well as the Uzbek poems that were not included in his previous divans for certain reasons, and composed four independent divans. He created the Treasury of Meanings). This lyric collection covers almost all Uzbek poems written by the great poet during his entire life, more than fifty thousand verses belonging to 16 lyrical types.
At the end of his life, Alisher Navoi collected more than twelve thousand verses of his poems written in Persian under the pseudonym Foni, and created "Devoni Foniy" (Devon of Foni).
In Alisher Navoi's lyrics, innumerable problems of nature, society, homeland, perfect human being, spirituality, ethics are deeply analyzed artistically.
