In children, pneumonia is an acute infectious inflammatory disease of the entire structural and functional unit of the lung parenchyma. Pneumonia in children is accompanied by symptoms of intoxication, cough, and shortness of breath. Diagnosis of pneumonia in children is based on auscultatory, clinical-laboratory and radiological examinations. Treatment of pneumonia in children is carried out with antibiotic therapy, bronchiolytics, antipyretics, expectorants, antihistamines.
The prevalence of pneumonia among children is 1000-5 per 20 children in early childhood and 3 per 1000 children over 3 years of age. The incidence of pneumonia among children increases during the seasonal spread of influenza epidemics.
