Sa'd ibn Mu'adh

The full name of our hero Sa'd ibn Mu'adh is Sa'd ibn Mu'adh ibn Nu'man ibn Imr al-Qays ibn al-Ash'al al-Awsi. This rich, glorious, plump, red-faced man was the leader of his tribe from a young age. Sa'd ibn Mu'adh was thirty-one years old when he converted to Islam. The story of his becoming a Muslim is also remarkable.
At the request of the first-century Muslims, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sent Mus'ab ibn 'Umayr to teach them Islam. Mus'ab ibn 'Umayr (may Allaah be pleased with him) and the Muslims of Yathrib were zealous in calling the people to Islam. Mus'ab ibn 'Umayr followed the advice of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). He set out in a wonderful way to teach people the Qur’an, teach Islam, and teach the rules of the religion. Sometimes some would come up to him with guns, trying to kill him. But after Mus'ab ibn 'Umayr's sweet treatment, recitation, and words about Islam, he became disillusioned and became a Muslim, and he would do whatever he was told to do.
Throughout Yathrib, Islam was spreading at an unprecedented rate. Many of the chief tribes of the Aws and Khazraj, including Sa'd ibn Mu'adh and Usayd ibn Hudayr, converted to Islam.
The conversion of Sa'd ibn Mu'adh to Islam led to the spread of Islam in Yathrib. From the day he became a Muslim, he became involved in the lives of Muslims in this city. Among the Muslims who went to the next Hajj season was Sa'd ibn Mu'adh. The Muslims of Madinah secretly met the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) at night in Aqaba. Seventy-three men and two women, Nasiba bint Ka'b and Asma bint Amr ibn Adi, came.
They all gathered and waited for the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). At one point it became clear that He was coming. There was also a man by their side. As he approached, it was discovered that he was Abbas, the uncle of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).
There was communication in between. The Muslims said that they were ready for what the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) asked them to do. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) asked them to choose twelve naqibs. They chose twelve. He said to the scribes, “You are the guarantors of your people, just as the apostles of Jesus ibn Maryam were the guarantors. I am a guarantor of my people. '
Then the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) recited the Qur'aan to them, called them to Allaah, preached Islam, and said, “I accept your pledge on the condition that you protect me from what you protect your wives and children from. They said.
Bara ibn Marur took the hands of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and was the first to pledge allegiance. Then everyone came out one by one. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to them, 'Go where you came from.' In this way, Sa'd ibn Mu'adh was honored to be a participant in one of the most famous meetings in the history of Islam.
When the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) migrated to Madinah, the doors of Sa'd ibn Mu'adh and his tribe were wide open to the emigrants. They also kept their property ungrateful to the immigrants.
The time has come, and the day of the Battle of Badr has come, which will turn the wheel of human history in the other direction and decide. Armed to the teeth, a number of clashes with multiple enemies became apparent.
In preparation for battle, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) advised his Companions. Several people expressed their opinions. Then Miqdad ibn 'Amr stood up and said,' O Messenger of Allah! Follow the command of Allah, we are with you. We do not say, as the Children of Israel did, "You and your Lord fight them, and we will sit here." You and your Lord will fight them, and we will fight with you. I swear by Allah who sent you with the truth, even if you lead us to Barkul Ghimad (a place on the outskirts of Yemen), we will leave. ”
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) rejoiced and prayed for him. At the same time, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, wanted to hear the opinion of the Ansar. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) thought that they should only help me in the city. This is because they had promised to protect the Messenger of Allah (saw) as they had protected themselves and their children in the second Bay'ah of Aqaba before the migration. That is why the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "O people, advise me." they shouted once more.
Then Sa'd ibn Mu'adh stood up and said, 'O Messenger of Allah! You mean us? ” he asked. The Prophet replied, "Yes." Sa'd ibn Mu'adh said, "It is as if you have encountered something other than what was revealed to you." We have believed in you, we have confirmed you. We have testified that what you have said is true. We have made a covenant to obey and obey you. O Messenger of Allah, do whatever you want. By Allah, Who sent you with the truth, if you point to a sea and dive into it, we will dive behind you. Take whoever you want with you, stay away from what you don’t want. Take as much as you want from our property as well. The property you receive is dearer than the one we have left. I swear by the One in Whose hand is my soul that I have never walked this path, nor do I know what will happen. But we are not afraid to face the enemy tomorrow. We are patient during war. We are loyal to you during the conflict. Perhaps Allah will grant us things that please your eyes. True, some of our people are left behind. Their love for you is no less than ours. Our obedience to you is no stronger than theirs. But they did not go out, thinking that they were going for a caravan. Let us build an umbrella for you and gather your animals there. Then let's face the enemy. If Allah exalts us and makes us victorious over our enemy, that is fine. If it is different, then you will ride on camels and catch up with those who are behind us. ”
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, 'O Sa'd! Does Allah judge better than that? they said. When Sa'd ibn Mu'adh had finished speaking, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, 'O Allah, bless you! God has promised me one of two categories. I swear by Allah that I can see the places where he will fall. '
People realized that they were going to face a battle, that the caravan they had vowed to have already passed. The words of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) gave confidence that help would come to the hearts. From this we can see how important Sa'd ibn Mu'adh was on the day of the Battle of Badr.
On that day, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) ordered a flag to be hoisted. The flags were three. One of them was carried by Mus'ab ibn 'Umayr. The other two were black and were raised by Ali ibn Abu Talib and Sa'd ibn Mu'adh. The fact that Sa'd ibn Mu'adh was given the honor of being the flag bearer of the Muslims in the first and most important battle in the history of Islam proves once again who he is.
The Muslims, led by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), decided to march towards the enemy and settle by the well there. After settling by the well, a camp was built for the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) from palm branches and bark. At his door, Sa'd ibn Mu'adh stood guard, drawing his sword. In fact, the idea of building a shroud for the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and guarding him came from Sa'd ibn Mu'adh.
Sa'd ibn Mu'adh was a very generous man. He did not spare anything, especially for the joy of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). This can be seen in the incident on the day of the wedding of Ali and Fatima Zahra.
On the night of the wedding, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to Ali ibn Abu Talib, the bridegroom, 'O Ali, the bride must have a wedding.' Sa'd ibn Mu'adh said, "I have a ram." he said. A group of Ansar gathered a few oats. From those things a wedding feast was arranged.
Sa'd ibn Mu'adh used to hold banquets in his house. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to attend those banquets in his honor. It is narrated on the authority of Imam Ibn Majah from 'Abdullah ibn az-Zubayr that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) broke his fast in Sa'd ibn Mu'azniki and then said: that is, "Those who fasted in your presence broke their fast, those who ate your food well, and the angels blessed you."
This prayer has become a sunnah for Muslims. If they are at a banquet at someone’s house, of course, they will recite this prayer.
In the battle of Uhud, however, the Muslims faced a great test. Due to a mistake made by the archers, the besiegers began to flee in droves. Only a small number of people stood by the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). One of those few warriors was Sa'd ibn Mu'adh. He tied the waist tightly and bravely protected the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) from the enemy.
It is narrated on the authority of Ibn Abu Shaybah that 'Amr ibn Shurahbil said: When Sa'd ibn Mu'adh was shot on the day of the Trench, his blood began to flow to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Abu Bakr came and said, "Woe is me, for my back is broken." he began. "Shut up, O Abu Bakr!" The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said.
Then 'Umar came and said, "Inna lillahi wa inna ilahi raji'un!" he said.
Muslim and Abu Dawud narrated on the authority of Jabir that Sa'd ibn Mu'adh was wounded in the wrist. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) heated the musk with his hands. Then his hand was swollen, and he heated it a second time.
"Mishqos" is a device that is heated and applied to the wound. In the battle of Al-Ahzab, the great Companion Sa'd ibn Mu'adh was shot and severely wounded in the veins of his wrists. Out of respect for him, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) took care of the patient himself, and as described in this narration, he also carried out the treatment himself. Stopping the bleeding by pressing something hot into the bleeding vein was the only method at the time.
Then the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) ordered the wounded Sa'd ibn Mu'adh to build a tent for the Prophet's mosque and lay him there. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did this so that Sa'd ibn Mu'adh, the patient, could always look after himself. Sa'd ibn Mu'adh, while lying sick in the mosque, prayed to Allah: “O Allah! If you have left anything from the war with the Quraysh, leave me for that too. For I have no dearer deed than to fight against a people who have persecuted your Messenger, who have lied to him and driven him away. O Allah! If you have wiped out the war between us and them, let the martyrdom that befell me today lead to martyrdom! Do not kill me until I am satisfied with Bani Qurayzah! ” Allah accepted the prayers of Sa'd ibn Mu'adh about the Bani Qurayza.
Sa'd ibn Mu'adh died after the conquest of Bani Qurayza. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: The throne trembled at the death of Sa'd.

This great Companion lived only six years after converting to Islam. He converted to Islam at the age of thirty-one and died at the age of thirty-seven.
Well, who is this person that the Throne of the Most Merciful will be shaken by his death and seventy thousand angels will be present at his funeral!
He is Sa'd ibn Mu'adh ibn Nu'man ibn Imrulqays al-Ansari al-Ashhali. His name was Abu Amr. His mother was Kabsha bint Rafi ibn Ubayd ibn Salaba. After converting to Islam, he pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (saw) and died after his son Sa'd ibn Mu'adh.
Sa'd ibn Mu'adh was tall, stocky, white, handsome, and well-groomed.
Before Islam, Sa'd was the master of his people, the leader of the Aws tribe, and the leader of Bani Abdulashhal. They converted to Islam at the age of thirty-one a year before the Hijrah. He was twenty-one years younger than the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Mus'ab ibn 'Umayr, who was called to Madinah by the command of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), was the cause of his guidance. Sa'd converted to Islam and said to Bani Ashhal, "It is haraam for me to talk to your husband or wife until you have embraced Islam." After this, they also converted to Islam. Sa'd was also a blessed man in Islam. They took part in the battles of Badr, Uhud and Khandaq. It is known and famous that they showed their devotion to the Messenger of Allah (saw) on behalf of all the Ansar before the Battle of Badr. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) repeatedly asked for advice, Sa'd stood up and said: “O Messenger of Allaah! Do you mean us? ” He said, 'Yes, it is.' Sa'd continued, “O Messenger of Allah! We believe in you and bear witness that what you bring is true. We have made a covenant and promise to obey and obey you over these things. Guide us wherever you want, O Messenger of Allah! I swear by the One who sent you with the truth, if you show us a sea and dive into it, we will dive behind you. Let none of us go back! Even if you confront us with an enemy, we will not be disappointed. We are courageous in the face of battle, loyal in the face of the enemy. I hope that Allah will be pleased with our efforts. Guide us with the blessings of Allah, O Messenger of Allah! ”
In the battle of Uhud, the Muslims found themselves in a very difficult situation after the defenders of the army left the designated place. In that case, Sa'd was one of the few people who stood firm in front of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
Sa'd Ibn Mu'adh was in trouble during the Battle of the Trench. The great Companion, who was severely wounded, lay ill for a month.
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) went to Sa'd. He was wrapped in a white robe. They grabbed him by the head, hugged him and prayed, “O Allah! Of course, Sa'd worked hard in your path. He confirmed your messenger and performed his duty. So accept His spirit as no soul has ever received. ”
When Sa'd heard him, he opened his eyes and said, “Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah. I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah. "
At the last moment of Sa'd ibn Mu'adh, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came to him and said, 'May Allaah reward you with goodness! What a good leader you were of your people. You have exceeded your promise to Allah, and Allah has exceeded His promise to you. ”
When the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) woke up, Gabriel came and said, 'O Messenger of Allaah! One person from your ummah died tonight. Who is he? ”I do not know of anyone other than Sa'd who is seriously ill. What happened to him? ” “O Messenger of Allah! Sa'd's soul was swallowed. Then his people came and took him to their land. He prayed the Fajr prayer and set off. The people also followed him. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, walked very fast. The ropes on people's shoes were torn off and their cloaks fell off their shoulders as they tried to catch up with him. They said, 'O Messenger of Allah! You sent the people away in a hurry! ” He said, "I am afraid that the angels will not go to Hanzala before him, just as they went to Hanzala before us."
Yes, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) wanted the honor of washing Sa’d ibn Abu Waqqas to be their own rather than the honor of the angels.
Ibn Sa'd Salama ibn Aslam said, "We were standing at the door and wanted to enter after the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, when I saw him." The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) entered, and there was no one in the house except Sa'd, who was surrounded. I stopped when I saw that he was backing away. Uzot motioned to me, "Stand up." I stopped and stopped the ones behind me as well. He sat for a while and then went out. I said, 'Messenger of Allah, I did not see anyone, but did I see you retreating?' He said, 'I could not sit until one of the angels spread his wings for me.' He said, 'Blessed is Abu' Amr. Blessed be Abu Omar! Blessed be Abu Omar! ”
As the people lifted his coffin, they were amazed at how light Sa'd was, despite his body. When the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was told about this, he said, 'It is being raised by others among you. I swear by the One in Whose Hand is my soul that the angels rejoiced with the spirit of Sa'd and the Throne of the Most Merciful shook him! ”
Sa'd ibn Mu'adh died at the age of thirty-seven. Though his body has passed among men, his biography will pass from tongue to tongue and will last forever.
He also had a high status in the presence of Rabb subhanahu wa ta'ala. He prayed to Allah that the Jews of Bani Qurayza would not take their lives until they saw with their own eyes the consequences of betraying the Muslims. His prayers were answered. When their goals were achieved, they again prayed to the Almighty and asked Him to take their souls, and He accepted. This is a sign of the high status of Sa'd in the sight of Allah.
Ibn 'Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Throne was shaken because Allaah loved to meet Sa'd. For whoever loves Allah and longs for Him, Allah loves to meet him! ”
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri said, "The throne was shaken by the joy of the Lord for the death of Sa'd ibn Mu'adh."
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said about Sa'd ibn Mu'adh: ! Surely he was grieved, then he was let loose.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said about Sa'd's position in Paradise: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was presented with a silk sarpa. His Companions saw him and began to marvel at his gentleness. He said, 'Are you surprised by its softness? Of course, Sa'd ibn Mu'adh's handkerchief in Paradise is better and softer than that! ” they said. "
