Teach a child to potty in 7 steps

Try the following:

1️⃣ Make sure your child is ready to sit in the potty.
Learning to potty is a new stage in a child’s development. In any case, the transition to a new stage requires a certain psychological and physical change in the child. When innovating a child’s lifestyle, look at the child first. Is the child ready for it or not? You can tell when a pot is ready by:
- the child imitates your going to the toilet;
- can verbally announce the opening of the stomach;
- understands simple requirements such as "bring the ball";
- indicates that he is upset when his diaper is dirty (wants to take it off, draws your attention to the diaper)
- can sit on the potty by himself;
- can walk dry for up to 3 hours;
- studies their own genitals.
2️⃣ Make sure you are ready to teach your child to potty.
Are you ready? It is a good idea to schedule your potty training time when there are no other necessary activities (the eve of the birth of a new child, stress at work, problems with an older child, etc.). It is also easier to get out of diapers in warm or hot weather. You will need:
- patience;
- pot;
- training pants;
- sense of humor;
- to create.
Tell your child about the potty.
Show the other kids to go to the potty.
Draw a doll, a potty-related toy.
Use children’s booklets that teach you how to go to the potty.
3️⃣ Explain to the child where to go and what it is called.
Give your child a well-chosen potty. The pot should be comfortable for the child, fun if you want, and most importantly safe and easy to wash. Name the work you are doing in Gorshok.
4️⃣ Teach your child to connect the process with emotion.
At this stage, the child should be able to understand the emotions in the body, to go to the potty, to sit in the potty and do his job. In the beginning, you will be his observer and guide.
He felt ————— went to the potty or felt —————— told his mother.
5️⃣ Carry the child in training pants, leaving the child completely without diapers.
These pants are normal pants and should only be easy to remove and dry quickly.
6️⃣ Teach your child to take off their pants, wear them, and wash their hands when they are done, depending on their age.
Praise your child a lot for their achievements, close your eyes to the “accidents” that happen a lot in the beginning.
7️⃣ Put all the work aside and be completely with your child.
In this way, you can constantly monitor your child, feel his desire to go to the potty in time, guide him in time, and gradually understand what the child is doing.
Remember, rest at night while you teach the potty. A child who learns to go to the potty during the day will learn to sleep without diapers at night in 2-3 weeks.
If your child refuses to sit in the potty despite all your requests, it means he is not ready yet. Don't torture him for that. In this regard, the phrase “later than time” would be appropriate. Don’t worry, your baby will definitely be ready after a while.
