The oldest city in the world

- You may have thought of Jerusalem or Athens as the oldest city in the world, but the name belongs to the Syrian city of Damascus. At least 11000 years ago, it was permanently inhabited. In 2008, it was named the Capital of Arab Culture.

- More than 3 monuments reflecting different periods of history since the 125rd millennium BC, including the Great Mosque of the Umayyads, built in the VIII century. Today, the city is home to 1,7 million people.
