The oldest pyramid in Egypt is the Pyramid of Joser.

The Pyramid of Djoser was built about 4700 years ago during the Third Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of Egypt. Djoser himself commissioned it to serve as his final burial place, and the design is attributed to his representative, Imhotep. Imhotep's architectural plans were both ambitious and completely original. Formerly, royal tombs consisted of a subterranean chamber marked by a mastaba (a rectangular flat-topped building with a sloping interior). The Pyramid of Djoser stacked six smaller mastabas on top of each other to create a 203-foot-tall pyramid shape. Instead of mud brick, it is made of cut stone and covered with shiny white limestone.
