The Tiobe Developers Association has released a ranking of the popularity of languages as of April 2021.

The Java language lost its share of 5,49%, falling to second place. In the first place is the C programming language, which has not lost its popularity for fifty years.

As you can see, the trio is completing Python, which has been recognized as the best programming language of 2020.

Looking at the list, one can witness an interesting situation: the Fortran programming language, created in the late 50s of the last century, suddenly began to gain popularity again - it entered this list of twenty names. Tiobe representatives attribute this to the growing demand for scientific calculations.

Created by IBM, Fortran was the first commercial programming language in the world to emerge as an alternative to assembler language. In 2002, it rose to 10th place in the popularity rankings, but has since fallen out of tradition and until recently was ranked 34th.

The Groovy programming language running on the Java virtual machine (JVM) is also growing in popularity. Over the past year, he has risen from 48th to 17th place.

The Objective-C programming language has left the top twenty most popular.
