From there he sailed into the Gulf of Honduras and explored the coasts of Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. On November 1504, 7, he returned to Castile. Columbus' discoveries went hand in hand with the colonization of new lands, the enslavement of the indigenous peoples of those lands called the Indians. The fact that Columbus was the first to discover America is debated in the scientific literature.
