In 1950, the Indian national team refused to participate in the World Cup. In an official statement, the Indian Football Federation said that going to South America (Brazil) would be valuable for the country, but according to the most common information, it was in fact a different reason. FIFA did not allow Indians to play football barefoot. The Indians, on the other hand, were not accustomed to playing football with their shoes on.
