AMr. Abduhakimov, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Samarkand Half Marathon:
- This marathon covers all aspects of social life of our country. Although many of our participants will not be able to come to Samarkand this year for physical reasons, people from all over the world can join our charity event.
Saida Mirziyoyeva, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Public Fund for Support and Development of National Media:
“The Samarkand Half Marathon is one of the largest charitable projects, which draws public attention not only to an active lifestyle, but also to current issues such as the development of a favorable environment in the objects of culture and art. We all have one goal - to ensure full social integration, to create equal conditions for residents and guests of our country. To this end, we must actively support such initiatives and try to hold such events in Uzbekistan as much as possible.
Mirkhan Sagitov, curator of the Samarkand Half Marathon project:
- This year we have prepared a lot of news for you. For example, competitions between running clubs and "Intercity competitions". While leaving participants with the freedom to choose their time, place and distance, we strive to break records in the number of runners, as well as expand the geography of participating countries and deliver a large-scale running holiday environment on a large scale. Thanks to the half marathon, the number of people who love to run is growing, which encourages us to look for new types of running races and organize events at the highest level.
This charity competition is organized annually by the Fund for the Development of Culture and Arts in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, the State Committee for Tourism Development and the Samarkand regional administration. The competition will help to draw public attention to the existing inclusive problems in the objects of culture and art, as well as to address the development of healthy lifestyles and sports tourism.
The half marathon held in 2019 was focused on adaptation activities for visually impaired cultural institutions.
