5 scientific ways to improve Wi-Fi signal

Everyone probably wants the internet in his home to work faster. There are surprisingly simple ways to improve your Wi-Fi signal. The quality of the internet in your home depends largely on the router, Interesbook says.

First, you need to understand what Wi-Fi waves are. These are electromagnet-like radio waves that are distinguished by their very short length (12 centimeters). This means that the further away from the router, the weaker the signal.

This problem can be solved in the following ways.

Install the router in the center of your home.

If you can see the router from different corners of your home, then you have found the ideal location for it.

Do not put it on the floor.

No matter what your router is, it distributes a portion of its Wi-Fi signal down, under the case. So if it stays on the floor, you lose about half of the signal. It simply spreads to your neighbor downstairs. For this reason, the ideal place for a router is a ceiling wall.

This also applies to cupboards. The more walls around the router, the worse the internet quality at home.

Place it away from other electronics.

Any electronics, whether it's a computer or a TV, will prevent the Wi-Fi signal from propagating. So keep your router away from them.

If your router has antennas, set them in the right direction.

It works better if the internal antennas of the device are placed parallel to the antenna of the router. Most laptops have a horizontally mounted antenna. This is why when the router is on the table, not on the floor, the laptop internet runs faster.

If you cannot place your devices at the same height, orient one of the router's antennas horizontally and the other vertically.

Signal distribution map.

There are many apps that can create a map of the distribution of a Wi-Fi signal in and around your home. This will help you understand where to put the router for better signal propagation.
