Is it normal for babies to have chin tremors?

Chin tremor is normal in babies up to 3 months. Chin tremors often occur during feeding (breastfeeding) or bathing, during crying, and sometimes during sleep. And in children older than 3 months, there may be a sign of neurological immaturity or a pathological condition.

Physiological and pathological causes of chin tremor:

▪️Physiological shivering is characteristic for babies up to 3 months old. It occurs mainly in premature babies. Reasons: effects of hormones, hunger, discomfort at room temperature, bright light, loud noise, sudden change in body position, feeling pain.

▪️Pathological chin tremor can be caused by brain hypoxia, increased intracranial pressure, thyroid gland diseases and other disorders.
