In September 1997, the Tashkent Zoo was established. Zoo, Tashkent Zoo (232 Bogishamol Street) is an institution that conducts educational and scientific research. In 1924, at the initiative of biologists from the University of Central Asia on an area of ​​3 hectares, it was established on the basis of a small animal corner in the field yard of the Governor-General of Tsarist Russia. In the late 40s, it became a zoo with more than 200 species of animals. According to the decision of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in 1994-97 a new zoo was built for the zoo, which meets all modern requirements and standards. The Tashkent Zoo moved to the park near the Botanical Garden in September 1997. With a total area of ​​22,7 hectares, about 415 animals of 5000 species are preserved, including 74 species of mammals, 101 species of birds, 39 species of reptiles, 5 species of amphibians, 184 species of fish, and 17 species of invertebrates (2009). In the aquarium section, a marine aquatic system has been built, in which conditions have been created for sea creatures, sharks and fish, polyps and others to live. The zoo specializes in breeding birds of prey (blackbirds, hawks, hawks, condors, etc.). Scientific work is being carried out to increase the number of rare and endangered animal species. In 2006-2007, 2 new divisions (desperate, rodents) were created. Collaborates with 86 overseas zoos to share animal and scientific information. Member of the European-Asian Regional Association of Zoos and Aquariums since 1998. The zoo was directly involved in the establishment of the Ashgabat, Termez, Dushanbe and Almaty zoos.
