Today, July 15, is the day of establishment of the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies

Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies was established on July 1991, 15 on the basis of the Oriental Faculty of Tashkent University (now the National University of Uzbekistan).

The institute trained bachelors in 11 fields of study and masters in 16 fields of study.

The institute has 3 faculties: oriental philology and history of foreign countries; Far Eastern and South Asian languages; international relations and economics), there were 28 departments, postgraduate and master's departments, information resources center (179406 works).

There is a specialized scientific council for post-graduate and doctoral studies, defense of doctoral dissertations.

Since 1992, the magazine "Oriental Studies" ("Vostokovedeniye") and "Eastern Torch" ("Mayak Vostoka") have been published in the institute.

In 2020, it received the status of a University by the decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
