September 1997, 1 is the day when the Tashkent Zoo was established.
According to the decision of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in 1994-97, a new Zoo was built that meets all modern requirements and standards for the Zoo. In September 1997, the Tashkent Zoo moved to this garden located near the Botanical Garden. The total area is 22,7 hectares, about 415 animals of 5000 species, including 74 species of mammals, 101 species of birds, 39 species of reptiles, 5 species of amphibians, 184 species of fish, 17 species of invertebrates are kept (2009).
