Kashkadarya region is a region within the Republic of Uzbekistan. It was founded on November 1924, 1. In 1938, it was annexed to Bukhara region. It was reorganized on January 1943, 20. On January 1960, 25, it joined the Surkhandarya region. It was re-established on February 1964, 7. It borders Bukhara to the northwest, Surkhanaryo to the southeast, Turkmenistan to the southwest and west, and Tajikistan and Samarkand to the east. The area is 28.6 thousand km².
