September 15 - International Day of Democracy

International Democracy Day is celebrated annually on September 15. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2007 to promote and support the principles of democracy throughout the world.

Democracy is a system of government in which power rests in the hands of the people and is exercised through elected representatives. It ensures the right of citizens to participate in decision-making processes that affect their lives and the overall governance of their country.

One of the main points highlighted on the International Day of Democracy is the importance of inclusiveness. Democracy must be inclusive to ensure equal participation of all individuals regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religion or socioeconomic status. Efforts are being made to remove obstacles that prevent certain groups from fully participating in democratic processes.
