How much does it cost to build the longest tunnel in the world?
The longest and deepest tunnel in the world opened on June 2016, 1 in Switzerland. The tunnel not only provided rail links across the Alps, but also shifted northwest freight traffic from the highway to the green railroad.
The length of the tunnel is 57,1 km, the maximum height of the mountains above the tunnel is 2300 meters. It took about 17 years to build the tunnel. The construction cost $ 12 billion, killing nine builders.
It will be recalled that in 2016, Uzbekistan launched the longest tunnel in Central Asia on the Angren-Pop route with a length of 19,2 km and a construction cost of $ 455 million.
