Muqumi Theater, Uzbek State Musical Drama Theater named after Muqumi is one of the largest theaters in Uzbekistan. On November 1939, 30, at the initiative of the comedian M. Mirokilov, the Republican Comedy and Satire Theater was established, which began its work with the play "Former Judges or the Case of Maysara" (Hamza) (directed by M. Mirokilov). In 1940, the theater was reorganized under the name Musical Drama and Comedy Theater. T. Jalilov was appointed artistic director, A. Azimov was appointed chief director. In 1972, the theater was transformed into the Uzbek State Musical Theater. In the late 80s and early 90s, the theatrical repertoire was dominated by fairy tales and legends. Among them are "Gul and Navruz", "Yusuf and Zulayho", "Ostrich and painting", "Satan and disciples". 1993-1994 theatrical repertoire "A little world" (T.Yunus, A.Yunus), "Happy wedding" (O.Khoshimov, O.Mukhtor; M.Mahmudov), "Journey to Tashkent" (B.Darvesh ; N.Khalilov) and other musical comedies.
