The English football team plays its home games here. The cost of renovating Wembley, that is, building a new stadium on the old site with only one historic wall remaining, cost the English budget 798 million pounds. At that year's exchange rate, it was about $1,59 billion. However, this amount also included the renovation of several neighborhoods adjacent to the stadium. So it's unlikely we'll ever know the true cost of building a stadium as a stand-alone facility.
