American scientists have concluded that short exercises can help to lose belly fat. This was reported by Sputnik.
According to experts, with age, a decrease in muscle mass is observed, which in turn can often lead to the accumulation of fat in the abdomen and upper body.
This is called abdominal obesity, which increases the risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
The researchers conducted a study that involved 70-year-olds.
Half of them performed short exercises 10 times a day for 3 weeks. The rest continued their normal lifestyles.
Initially, the exercises lasted 18 minutes, but gradually their duration reached 36 minutes.
The study found that those who exercised had a one-third lower fat mass compared to those who did not change their lifestyle. Their muscles also increased.
However, experts say that short exercises have been more effective in men.
