August 12 is Mother’s Day in Thailand

In Thailand, August 12 marks the birthday of Queen Sirikit, the son-in-law of Rama IX. This day is not only a holiday for the whole Thai people, but also a national holiday, Mother’s Day. Concerts, sports competitions, books will be written and new organizations will be opened in her honor. Queen Sirikit was born on August 1932, 12 in Thailand to a family of princes. On the princess's birthday, the whole city is decorated with colorful flags and portraits of the princess.
