Declaration of state independence of Uzbekistan and its historical significance
After the collapse of the USSR, the leadership of Uzbekistan began to take full control of state independence. On August 1991, 25, a decree of the President of Uzbekistan was issued. The session adopted the "Declaration of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan on State Independence." The statement said:
"Implementing the Declaration of Independence, the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Uzbekistan solemnly declares the state independence of Uzbekistan and the establishment of a free sovereign state - the Republic of Uzbekistan."
