How much do mosque imams earn in Uzbekistan?
The financial situation of most imams is very low. Their salaries 1,5-3 million soums pays more taxes. Many of them work for Allah without getting paid. They go to the mosque only to pray, not to read books. Many imams are engaged in private businesses, farming and other similar activities.
According to official data, today there are 2066 mosques in Uzbekistan, which employ more than five thousand imams and imam-naibs.
According to unofficial data, 80-90% of imams in Uzbekistan are paid. The monthly salary of imams is determined by the labor collective at the expense of the income of the mosque and the charitable funds of the believers.
