According to Islamic law, zakat is given to:

1. To the poor, that is, to those whose wealth has not reached the nisab.

2. To the poor, that is, to the needy.

3. To debtors, that is, to those who owe a lot of money.

4. Zakat is given to the strangers on the way in such a way that they reach their home countries.

5. Those who follow the path of Allah, that is, those who follow the path of Hajj and seek knowledge.

6. Factors, that is, those who collect zakat and distribute it to the rightful.

7. To slaves who made a contract with their master to be free (but there is no slavery today).

8. Muallafat al-Qulub, that is, those who are inclined to Islam, who hope to convert to Islam or remain steadfast in Islam, and who are expected to serve Muslims and help Muslims.

• Zakat is not given to grandparents, parents, children, or the rich. The husband does not give zakat to the wife or the wife to the husband either. However, zakat is given to relatives such as brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles.
