July 18 - World Listening Day
World Listening Day is an event held every year on July 18. It was first established in 2010 by the World Listening Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of listening and soundscapes.
The purpose of World Listening Day is to promote active listening and raise awareness of the sounds around us. The day encourages people to pay attention to their acoustic environment, appreciate the sounds that surround them and reflect on how we interact with our environment.
World Listening Day aims to foster a deeper appreciation of our sonic environment and the practice of mindful listening. By encouraging people to actively engage with their surroundings through sound, it inspires a greater understanding of our interconnectedness with nature, communities and each other through our shared acoustic experiences.
