Tashkent region is located in the north-east of the Republic. It borders the Republic of Kazakhstan to the north and northwest, the Kyrgyz Republic to the northeast, Namangan region to the east, Tajikistan to the south, and Syrdarya region to the southwest. It was established on January 1938, 15. The area is 15,26 thousand km². The population is 3 million people, mostly Uzbeks, as well as Russians, Kazakhs, Tatars, Tajiks, Koreans and other nationalities. The center is the city of Nurafshan.
