What do the abbreviations MT5, AT1, AT6 mean in car transmission?
MT — manual transmission
AT - automatic transmission. Automatic transmission or automatic gearbox.
The number in front of these indicates how many forward gears the transmission has. Spark, Nexia, Lacetti, Cobalt with manual transmission are all coded as MT5 because they all have 5-speed forward transmission. Note that the reverse gear is not reflected in the code number.
