What is an eSIM card?
The reason for focusing on this topic is the recent draft document "On approval of the rules for the provision of telecommunications services (https://regulation.gov.uz/uz/document/18731)" posted on the portal regulation.gov.uz. ldi. (I wonder if many people know about this document?)
In short, the use of the term eSIM in this document gives hope that in the near future this technology will be introduced in our mobile operators. Mobile operators in neighboring Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have already switched to eSIM technology.
What is an eSIM card?
eSIM means "subscriber identification module", which is a digital alternative to the usual SIM-card. Unlike a regular SIM card, an eSIM card is installed in the smartphone.
You do not need to insert a SIM card into the slot of your smartphone, just set an eSIM profile by scanning a special QR code (https://t.me/gsmgurus_FAQ/443). The eSIM profile contains all the necessary information to connect to the mobile network.
eSIM (embedded SIM) is:
• more memory than a regular SIM card;
• multiple numbers on one device (even different operators);
• Ability to activate only one eSIM and nano-SIM;
• No need to use a physical SIM card module.
The convenience of the technology allows you to activate eSIM without going to the operator's office. You can also buy traffic using special apps (Airalo: eSIM Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobillium.airalo)), especially when you travel abroad for a certain period of time.
