Is borrowing good or bad ?!
• Definition of debt
- The word debt in the dictionary means "cut", because the lender cuts off part of his property to the borrower. In the Shari'ah, it is a debt to give money to a person who gives it back.
• Permissibility of lending in the Shari'a
- Lending is fixed by the Sunnah and consensus, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) borrowed a female camel and gave it to a good male camel in return, and said, “The best of people is the one who pays his debt beautifully.”
• About the quality of lending
- Allah says in His Word:
Wāảq̊riḍūạ ạllãha qar̊ḍaⁿạ ḥasanaⁿạ
"And give alms to Allah."
The meaning of the word debt is very broad, and the benefit of others is also included in the hasanah.
