How is a marriage registered?

In Uzbekistan, the marriage age is set at 18 for men and women.

The marriage shall be registered by the Civil Registry Office at the place of residence of one of them one month after the date of application of the persons wishing to enter into a marriage.

Upon receipt of the application, the Civil Registry Office will issue a referral for a medical examination. The couple must undergo a medical examination at the polyclinic in the area where they live permanently or temporarily and submit its conclusions to the FXDY. Marriages under the age of 50 must be medically tested for HIV.

A state fee of 20 percent of the basic calculation amount is levied on one of the spouses for the registration of the marriage.

After the marriage is solemnized, a certificate is issued in a single copy and the passports of the husband and wife are stamped and the relevant entries are made.
