Question:
Assalamu alaykum. Where does the awrah of a man and a woman go in Islam? Is it permissible to expose the 'awrah in this world and in the eternal world? Does openness or partial openness of the awrah have an effect on prayer? Thanks in advance for your answer!
Answer:
And peace be upon you. The word "awrat" in the dictionary means "any delicate, empty, open space where there is a risk of enemy entry."
By the awrah of man, we mean the members who are ashamed to show it to people. For example, the places in the human body where the sight of non-mahrams is forbidden are called 'awrah. It is not permissible for a man or a woman to expose their private parts or show them to non-mahrams. It is obligatory to cover the 'awrah and hide it from prying eyes.
In men, the part of the body from the navel to below the knees is the awrah. To make it clearer, we will mention which parts of a man are considered 'awrah:
1. The penis, its surroundings.
2. Two testicles.
3. The back of the abdomen, its circumference.
4. Two buttocks.
5. Two numbers (both knees).
6. Between the umbilicus and the bladder.
A Muslim free woman has two palms (up to the ankles), the lower part of the ankle (step) and the whole body except the face. Sochi and gajagi are also included in the awrah. Therefore, the following parts of a woman are considered 'awrah:
1. The penis.
2. Two ears.
3. Two breasts.
4. The wrist and thigh of the foot (step is not included).
5. Hand (palm part is not avrat).
6. From.
7. Head.
8. Hair.
9. Neck.
10. Shoulder.
The members of the 'awrah were not listed in vain. This is because covering the 'awrah is one of the conditions of prayer. If a quarter of the 'awrah is opened during the tasbeeh, that is, during the rukn, the prayer is broken. If less than a quarter of it is opened or closed as soon as it is opened, the prayer will not be broken.
Now some young people come to the mosque wearing very short T-shirts, T-shirts, shorts, thin clothes. These garments do not cover the places where it is considered shameful to show them to others, or the awrah (including the knees, navel, back) is exposed during ruku 'and sajdah. In this way, the prayer is ruined and the consciousness of others is lost. It is also not permissible to come to the mosque wearing clothes with pictures of various things. A Muslim will be a little more attentive and prudent, thinking, "Where am I coming from and why am I praying?"
