👣 Causes and treatment methods of congenital malformations
🔰 Congenital malformation is one of the most common congenital orthopedic diseases, it occurs on average in 1000 out of every 4 births. Limbs are characterized by severe deformation components: equinus - downward turning of the front area of the paw, adduction - turning this area inward, supination - downward turning of the outer edge of the paw around the core.
If we talk about the causes of congenital malformation, no definite conclusion has been reached, but sometimes it is observed in relatives, the mother was sick during pregnancy, or she was injured.
🔬 It is necessary to start treatment as soon as the child is diagnosed. It is not difficult to identify the disease with the above symptoms. A one-week-old child is gradually put on plaster bandages, during the first three months the bandage is changed every week, gradually all components of the sedation are lost. Treatment with staged plaster bandage is continued until complete correction is achieved - this period can last from 3 months to 1,5 years. If complete correction is not achieved or treatment is not done at 1,5 years, one of the surgical methods is performed.
🦠 Several surgical methods can be used in the treatment of scoliosis in children: tenoplasty and capsulotomy by the Zatsepin method, achilloplasty, correction by the Ilizarov method, bone resection and arthrodesis under the sacrum in severe cases and in older children.
🔅 At all stages of treatment of congenital malformations, parents are required to fully comply with orthopedic instructions. It is necessary to refer to the next stage, keeping the bandage clean during the staged plaster dressings. When the surgical method is used, the plaster bandage, the postoperative wound area should be kept clean. After the treatment procedures have been carried out and full correction has been achieved, the child should receive complex physiotherapeutic procedures: massage, therapeutic physical culture, paraffin or ozokerite, electrophoresis with a calcium chloride solution in the paw area. At home, parents can also conduct massage and physical therapy exercises.
♻️ During the rehabilitation period, orthoses are used to maintain the correction state. When standing and walking, pronator, comfortable orthopedic shoes are worn, while lying down, a plastic splint in the correction position is used, they are made individually.
