Jomolungma (Everest) is the highest peak in the world on the border between China and Nepal. The English name "Everest" was given in honor of Sir George Everest, the head of the surveying service of British India in 1830-1843. During the ascent of Everest, more than 260 people died. Despite this, more than 400 people try to conquer Jomolungma every year.
