The European Union (EU) is an economic and political union of 27 European countries working towards common goals such as peace, stability and prosperity on the continent. The European Union was established after the Second World War in order to promote economic development, security and democracy in the region.

1. Population: As of 2023, the European Union is expected to have approximately 447 million people, the third largest population in the world.

2. GDP: The European Union is the largest economic bloc in the world. The combined gross domestic product of the EU member states is more than 18 trillion dollars, which is 22% of the global gross domestic product.
