How hunger and satiety arise

The "hunger center" in the hypothalamus is responsible for these feelings in our body. It assesses blood levels of various nutrients such as glucose and amino acids.

If these substances in the blood are less than the required amount, the brain sends a signal to the stomach, which triggers the standard symptoms of starvation.

The pressure of food on the stomach wall has a significant effect on the feeling of satiety. Therefore, those who want to lose weight are advised to eat more vegetables and other dietary fiber, as these foods take up more space in the stomach and thus create a feeling of satiety.
