So how long does the brain have to rest between memorizing and consolidating information? Psychologist Peron found the answer to this question. He conducts experiments on several people and instructs them to memorize and repeat 18 unfamiliar words.
In the experiment, the words gave good results when repeated 30 times after 14 seconds. When the break was 10 minutes, it was enough to repeat 4 times. At a break of 10 minutes to 24 hours, the data was consolidated in short-term memory. The number of repetitions increases with breaks of more than 24 hours, and 48 repetitions are required when they reach 8 hours. This is because the additional data that is stored in the memory during this time weakens the memory capacity. It is therefore advisable to repeat the memorized words every 24 hours. The similarity of many aspects of the text complicates the memorization process. If the set of words is structured differently, the work becomes easier. For example, what comes to mind when you remember a word written in list order? Naturally, his place on the list. This is not an indication of the power of memory. It simply means that there is no more important aspect to remembering that word. Therefore, every word that is memorized must be different from the others in a specific way. Positive results can be achieved in the process of memorization if you avoid them from being monotonous when writing them and if the colors or letter shapes are structured differently.
