Does smoking or snuff break the ablution?

Assalamu alaykum. Does smoking or snuff break the ablution?

ANSWER:

And peace be upon you. There is no information in the books of jurisprudence that smoking or snuffing violates ablution. That is, these two things do not violate ablution according to the rules of fiqh. This is because the acts that break the ablution are:

1. Things that come out of the front and back dirt path

2. Impurities from the body

3. Return of blood or food, etc.

4. Sleeping on something

5. Anesthesia Being Crazy

6. Laughing during prayers with bowing and prostration

7. Male and female genitals touching each other without clothes. (The book Mukhtasarul Viqoya).

But it should also be noted that the fact that cigarettes and nasal sprays do not violate ablution does not mean that they can be smoked. Maybe it’s not honest to smoke them. When these substances first appeared, most scribes said that smoking was makrooh. Nowadays, the harm of these products is becoming more and more apparent, and more and more people are being exposed to them, so most scientists now say that the abomination of smoking is taboo.
