555 best works of art in the world (VINovodvorskaya list)

SHARE WITH FRIENDS:

In the 2014 issue of Argumenty i Fakty, Alina Garbuznyak cites a list of 1951 items, followed by a list of Valeria Novodvorskaya (2014-555), a Russian politician, lawyer, independent journalist, and author of several books. .
* * *
This eleven-page list came to me three years ago after a brief acquaintance with Valeria Ilinichna. V.Novodvorskaya was the first to talk about her favorite works of art, especially when she met people much younger than herself. These works, in my opinion, reflected his human qualities more than the lengthy biography and articles he would write.
I don’t remember why this list was mentioned when I first met him, but I took an interest in him and asked him to bring me to our meeting again. I don’t know if he remembered my name or not, but he didn’t forget his promise. A week later, as I was copying the typewritten, handwritten list in some places and returning the original to Valeria Ilinichna, she said, “Anyone who thinks they are educated works to be read. That's the minimum! I recommend it to everyone, ”he said.
I met Valeria Ilinichna in the editorial office of The New Times. After graduating from university, I had the intention to come here and get a job. V.Novodvorskaya is one of the regular authors of this magazine and has its own page. He used to come here once or twice a week. He did not come as if he had come to work, nor as if he came to his own house, but rather as a guest. Each time he brought something that the young staff would enjoy. Those who have worked for the magazine for a long time say they are busy.
The staff of the magazine also welcomed V. Novodvorskaya as a guest. When he came, they would talk without raising their voices, try not to quarrel, and even smoke less. I’ve only been here two weeks. My brief meetings with Valeria Ilinichna left a good impression on me. He never talked about politics, nor did he think about educating young journalists and following them. If he had such an intention, he would not hesitate to recommend a list of the best works.
The books listed are not divided into “important” and “more important” types, so they are written in alphabetical order. For V. Novodvorskaya, all books are equally important. For example, knowing the Japanese writer Akutagawa Ryunosuke is "no less important" than knowing Anton Chekhov. A person who has read all of Shakespeare’s works cannot consider himself educated unless he has touched the works of Stephen King.
The list is 555 items long, but that doesn’t mean there are so many authors. Some writers fit one point in the list and say "vse" (that is, all works). In many cases, each work of the author was presented with a separate band, without melting. For example, the works of Kuprin occupy 58 points, Mopassan - 19 points, ANTolstoy - 15 points.
Books that Novodvorskaya did not like can be identified by the words "everything, except…". Dostoevsky's paragraph contains such words. It contains the author's letters, diaries and the work "Citizen". Exupery recommended all his works, except for the novel "Fortress". Among the works recommended by ANOstrovsky, there is no "Thunder", which is well known to schoolchildren, and from NVGogol, there are no well-known stories, including "Nose", "Evenings of Dikanka". There is no "Fathers and Children" by Turgenev and "Hero of Our Time" by Lermontov. Dante recommended the "Hell" part of the "Divine Comedy." There are only three poems by Mayakovsky: "Vladimir Mayakovsky", "Spine Flute" and "Man".
Recommended authors to read all his works: Hans Christian Andersen, Akutagawa Ryunosuke, Charles Baudelaire, Brodsky, Bulgakov, Lyampo Hubert, Mandelstam, ancient playwrights - Sophocles, Titus Livy, Plutarch, Aeschylus.
Relatively few Russian contemporary writers are listed: Makanin, Sorokin, Edward Radzinsky.
The list also includes "all, especially…" works. Such categories include Bulgakov's "Ominous Eggs", "Dog's Heart", Dm. Balashov's "Great Table", "The heavy burden of power", Akhmatova's "Requiem" were awarded.
I can't say that everyone who considers himself a book lover should read all the works on the list, but he should go into every work in such a way that, like Valeria Ilinichna, then: "All the works of this author are wonderful" or " I recommend reading other than Falon's work. ”
