July 24 is Maritime Day in Finland

The Kotka Maritime Festival will take place on July 24 in Kotka, Finland. This city borders the city of St. Petersburg. Every summer the population of Kotka increases by at least one hundred thousand people. People from all over the world visit this city for the Maritime Festival. This holiday is celebrated as the biggest summer festival in Finland. During the holiday, there will be a Marine Race for Young Children Marine Festival, a jazz festival, a sea singing competition and various concerts, and of course there will be a seafood market and seafood tasting. Baltic ships, sailboats and yachts will be stationed by the sea. According to national traditions, open days are held on ships. The Maritime Festival in Kotka has been celebrated since 1962. This festival is considered a family holiday. Organized by the UNICEF program, children are the most important part of the Sea Festival. Each younger audience can show off their acting skills on stage. During the festival, various games and comedy shows will be held. On special playgrounds, children draw various pictures and make toys out of wood and paper. On the streets of the city you can taste seafood dishes.
