Music in Uzbekistan has long been developed mainly as professional music in folk and oral traditions. In folk music, there are various ceremonies, household chores, games, dance lyrics, nasitanamuz and other types of lapar, national, alla songs. Uzbek professional music in the oral tradition includes such genres as epic, big song, ashula, maqom, instrumental ways. There are 4 main local styles in the Uzbek musical heritage. Bukhara-Samarkand music style, Khorezm music style, Fergana-Tashkent music style, Surkhandarya-Kashkadarya music style.
In the twentieth century, significant work has been done to record and study the musical heritage of the peoples of Uzbekistan and Central Asia. Hundreds of music collections and other books have been published. Composers and hafiz musicians not only widely promote the masterpieces of Uzbek musical heritage Shashmaqom, Khorezm maqoms, Fergana-Tashkent maqom, but also create new instruments and songs. He was the author of the first musical dramas and comedies. In the 1930s, new musical genres emerged in Uzbekistan, such as opera, ballet, symphonic chamber music and music concerts. They have been widely developed in the works of Uzbek composers, especially since the 40s. Popular music, such as pop music and youth music, is also widespread.
