How does diabetes occur?
- Diabetes mellitus (also popularly referred to as "diabetes mellitus") - a disease caused by disorders of carbohydrate and water metabolism in the body. It is the result of dysfunction of the pancreas. The pancreas produces the hormone insulin. Insulin is involved in blood processing. Without this hormone, the body cannot maintain normal blood glucose levels and its levels increase. As a result, the body excretes excess glucose in the urine.
