TORCH infection in infants

SHARE WITH FRIENDS:

Sometimes the pregnancy goes well, the baby is born on time and everything looks fine, and then after a few days the child's condition begins to deteriorate. It is then checked that the child may have contracted the TORCH infection from the mother at birth.
Which infections are included in TORCH infection:
Toxoplasmosis
Syphilis, AIDS, Varicella
Rubella (measles)
Cytomegalovirus
Herpes
How can a baby be born with a TORCH infection?
As the fetus develops in the uterus, it cannot become resistant to infections. A TORCH infection present in the mother’s blood is transmitted to the baby through the blood. This can result in fetal death, birth defects or premature births, or the birth of a TORCH infection itself.
How does toxoplasmosis manifest in a child?
A baby infected with this virus shows no symptoms at birth. After a few years, it may appear as follows:
Blindness
Hydrocephalus (accumulation of fluid in the brain)
Pathological changes in the brain (epilepsy, developmental delay, mental retardation).
If a fetus is infected with the RUBELLA virus, how does it manifest itself?
If a pregnant woman comes into contact with a patient with measles, she should tell her doctor immediately. Because it requires special monitoring. Rubella infection causes serious defects in the developing fetus.
Rubella infection manifests itself in the fetus after birth as follows:
Cataracts in the eye
Cardiac pathology
Lag in mental and physical development
Liver enlargement
Bleeding
What is the effect of CITOMEGALOVIRUS on the newborn?
In a child who acquired cytomegalovirus at birth, it may later manifest in the development of epilepsy, hearing problems, and mental retardation.
How does herpes appear in babies?
If a pregnant woman is not infected with chickenpox in the last period of pregnancy and in the first year of life of the newborn, then there is no chance of developing the herpes virus. Herpes is almost non-existent in infants.
What are the symptoms of a baby with syphilis?
In newborns:
Pneumonia
Nervousness
Rash around the mouth and genitals
Colorless discharge from the nose.
What are the symptoms of varicella in a newborn?
The chances of varicella being transmitted from mother to fetus are very low.
When infected, it manifests itself as follows:
The skin is thickened or reddened
The arms and legs are deformed
Pathologies of the brain
Microcephaly (significantly smaller head than body)
Cataracts in the eye
Mental weakness.
How does a child born to an AIDS mother develop the disease?
Often, tests on a baby whose mother has AIDS show that the virus is not present at the beginning. But this cannot be taken as a real indicator. The child will then need to be re-examined several times. Although AIDS has been asymptomatic for years, it can cause serious damage to the body.
Symptoms of developing the virus in a child may include:
Lag in physical development
Abdominal edema (due to enlarged liver)
Swelling of the lymph nodes
Irregular diarrhea
Pneumonia
Development of fungi in the mouth.
It is not easy to quickly detect infection in a baby born with TORCH infection. Because most of them are asymptomatic in the first place, secondly, the above symptoms can be manifested in other diseases as well. TORCH infection cannot be detected until specific tests are performed alone.
Given the recent prevalence of TORCH infection in the Republic of Uzbekistan, every woman preparing for pregnancy should be tested for TORCH infection before fertilization. If present, she should not become pregnant until she has recovered from it. In addition, the man is also responsible for ensuring that a woman who is planning to become pregnant or is pregnant should not be infected with TORCH infection. For this, it also needs to be examined and treated. Otherwise, there is a high probability that the future fetus will die or be born with a defect.
TORCH infection is mainly a sexually transmitted infection. Waterfall sex leads to the development of this infection. The infection is transmitted to the woman sexually from her husband.
