Today, October 30, is the day the Danish war ended

The Danish War of 1864, also known as the Austro-Prussian-Danish War, was fought to separate Schleswig and Holstein from the Kingdom of Denmark.

This is the first war in the process of unification of Germany around Prussia.

In 1864, the conflict ended completely, and on October 30, a peace treaty was signed in Vienna.

Denmark renounced its claims to Lauenburg, Schleswig, and Holstein.

The duchies were declared joint possessions of Prussia and Austria, with Schleswig now administered by Prussia and Holstein by Austria.

This war was an important step towards the unification of Germany under Prussian hegemony.
