Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine)

Biologically active forms:
• pyridoxal-5-phosphate
• pyridoxamine-5-phosphate

Main functions:
1. Enzymes involved in amino acid metabolism are coenzymes;
2. Important for normal functioning of the central and peripheral nervous system;
3. Participates in the synthesis of serotonin from tryptophan;
4. In the metabolism of macronutrients, lipids, serotonin, dopamine, adrenaline, norepinephrine, GABA, histamine, hemoglobin;
5. Participates in the breakdown of glycogen into glucose and the formation of glucose from lipids.

The main reasons:
1. Malabsorption
2. Alcoholism
3. Stress
4. Fever
5. Hyperthyroidism

Main symptoms:
1. Disorders of protein metabolism, negative nitrogen balance;
2. Microcytic anemia
3. Dermatitis (cheilitis)
4. Seborrhea, glossitis
5. Depression
6. Memory loss, impaired consciousness
7. Decreased immune status
8. Insomnia or drowsiness
8. In children: hypersensitivity, hearing disorders, epileptic seizures.

Note! Vitamin V6 is sensitive to light, canning and quickly loses its properties. Resistant to heat treatment!

Daily requirement: 1,8–2 mg
