Why do the eyes turn red?
What is conjunctivitis?
Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of the thin membrane that covers the eyes. The thin tissue - the conjunctiva - covers the eyelids and the eye itself, helping it stay moist and clean.
❗️Symptoms of conjunctivitis:
Redness.
Itching.
The flow of tears.
The appearance of sticky circles and blemishes on the lashes, especially in the morning.
❗️How to treat conjunctivitis?
The method of treatment depends on its causes. In most cases, no special treatment is required, conjunctivitis goes away on its own in 1-2 weeks: the viruses recede, the curtains and lashes are cleaned using tear fluid.
Bacterial infections are treated with antibiotic drops and ointments. But such drugs can not be used arbitrarily, antibiotics should be used only on the advice of a doctor. Antihistamines and drops are good for allergies.
When to see a doctor?
❗️Usually there are no complications of conjunctivitis, but it has dangerous symptoms that can lead to a visit to the doctor:
Pain in the eyes.
Not being able to look at the light.
Blurred vision.
Pus.
What to do to not get sick?
Wash hands before contact with eyes.
Don’t use someone else’s towels and change them frequently.
Timely replacement of pillowcases.
Do not use expired cosmetics.
Not using someone else’s cosmetics.
