September 13 is International Day of First Aid

International first aid is one of the decisive factors in saving lives. It is now celebrated all over the world on September 13th.
Since 2000, it is held on the second Saturday in September. The initiators of the holiday are members of the Red Cross movement and the Red Crescent Society. The purpose of first aid is to perform the simplest medical procedures the victim needs, to reduce pain, and to prevent possible consequences. Of course, such care is provided by medical staff. In addition, everyone should know how to provide first aid. But life shows that cases where first aid is needed suddenly occur when time is short and there are no people with medical education. Therefore, it is necessary to act quickly in such cases.
According to the World Health Organization, traffic accidents account for 10% of fatalities, burns, drownings and falls and 15% of disability accidents each year. That is why the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent and other medical organizations in different countries hold consultations on the need and methods of providing first aid to victims.
